What is DESIGN FOR CHANGE?

Design for Change (DFC) is a global movement that promotes design process as a way of encouraging students to create and develop solutions for change in their communities and to put those ideas into action

AIM: to help children believe in themselves, develp their creative thinking, social responsibility, independence, compassion and attention to their environment

SLOGAN: “I CAN”

PARTICIPANTS: students of middle school age with adults (teacher, parents, youth leader, coach, etc.)

ACTIONS: Children work in groups (from 5 participants) to study social problems in schools, develop ways to solve them and directly implement the project.

RULES:

– Ideas should belong to children, not adults.

– The project is implemented without attracting money or material resources from school or parents

METHOD: DESIGN-THINKING

Design-thinking is people-oriented approach to problem solving, based on creative solutions.

The project uses a design-thinking method developed by a teenage psychologist in a way that is understandable and interesting for children.

The model

Feel – identify problems that worry you

Imagine – imagine how it can be solved

Do – implement your idea in real life

Share – share your story with others

GLOBAL CONFERENCE: Organized annually, the celebrations bring together young change agents from across the world, giving them the opportunity to not just share their stories but, at the same time, learn from each other.
